Episode 3: AIDS – yesterday, today and tomorrow

In this episode of the KIB podcast, librarians Martin Andersson and Martin Kristenson talk to Anna Mia Ekström, Professor of Global Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet. We present the [faceofaids.ki.se]Face of AIDS Film Archive, which documents the global HIV epidemic 1986-2021, and discuss what is happening now in the work against HIV and AIDS.

"One thing that struck me when I recently went through clips from the archive is the amazing commitment of the activists," says Anna Mia Ekström in the podcast. "It was young people and people living with HIV, but also mothers, researchers, doctors, Nobel laureates, monks – everyone was involved in the fight against the virus in the 80s and 90s, they really made their voices heard. We don't see that today, it's silent – and we know that silence kills."

Episode 2: How are KI students using AI? The library discusses

In this episode of the KIB podcast we dig deeper into the academic perspective on AI: How do students use and reflect upon the use of AI in their studies – and how should they?

  • How can I use AI to support me in my learning process?
  • What’s happening to our brains? (Or to the intended learning outcome?)
  • Is it cheating if I ask “my friend Bob” the AI to write my essay?

In the pilot episode, we meet Wim Grooten, associate professor, researcher and lecturer. We talk about systematic reviews, a form of literature review that aims to synthesise all available research or evidence in a defined area using a specific methodology.

  • What is most difficult about writing a systematic review?
  • Can AI be used in the process?
  • Don't forget your PICO!
