KIB Academic Conversation: Abortion stories – from legislation to research and art

KIB is marking the 50th anniversary of Swedish abortion legislation with an academic conversation where research meets art. The event opens with a performance of Aborthärvan [The Abortion Snarl], by the art collective OTALT.

All are welcome - no registration required! The conversation will be held in Swedish.

Lena Lennerhed, Professor Emerita of the History of Ideas, has written books and articles on the history of abortion in Sweden. She has also served as chair of the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU).

Kristina Gemzell Danielsson, Professor and Head of the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Karolinska Institutet (KI), and Senior Consultant in Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital. She also leads the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Human Reproduction at KI and Karolinska University Hospital.

Moderator Anna Nordlander, is an infectious disease physician and researcher at Karolinska University Hospital/KI. She is co-founder of Kroppens Hus, which combines science and art, and recipient of the Karolinska Institute's Culture Council Award 2023.

OTALT Art Collective

OTALT Art Collective is a feminist art group based in Arvika. OTALT has carried out several major performative and relational art projects, often focusing on women’s history. Representing the group at this event are Helene Karlsson and Sara Falkstad.
