21-27 October – International Open Access Week
The theme of International Open Access Week for 2024 will continue with last year’s focus on Community over Commercialization. At KIB, we choose to republish some of the interesting, and still relevant, interviews we did in autumn 2023. We also take the opportunity to highlight some of the news on open access from KI and KIB.
Here you will find information about how to publish open access in accordance with KI's policy, what agreements and discounts with prepaid publishing fees there are, and descriptions of different licences.
During Open Access Week 2022 KIB met with Patrik Magnusson, chair of the Open Science Working Group (OSWG), established by the Committee for Research at KI. One year has passed and we are curious – where are we now?
KIB offers several workshops on open access and research data. The workshops are open to all researchers and doctoral students and at KI.

Open Research Data is an area of Open Science that is gaining momentum. One example of an open dataset from KI that has already proved useful to researchers around the world is the CSAW-CC mammography dataset which was made openly available by Fredrik Strand’s research team after approval from the KI data protection office.
Publishing research data is becoming an important component of Open Science. The Data Access Unit (DAO) is a group of librarians providing support to researchers publishing their data. DAO sat down to talk with Malin to about her recently published article.
