Agreements with prepaid publishing fees, APC's

The library has agreements with publishers where the publishing fees / APC's are prepaid for researchers at Karolinska Institutet.

These publishers are listed here. Please click on the publisher name to find author instructions and information about the specific agreement. You can also see which journals are included in the Open Access/APC Checker Tool.

Terms for all the agreements:

  • You need to be the corresponding author.
  • You need to be affiliated with KI and you should also state this in the article.
  • The research should have been predominantly conducted at KI.
  • Use your email address ending with @ki.se and enter Karolinska Institutet as your institution to facilitate identification.

Publishers and journals offering discounts

The library also has agreements that give researchers at Karolinska Institutet discounts on the publishing fees they pay themselves.

PNAS: If you choose to publish your article with immediate open access in PNAS,(Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) you are entitled to a $500 discount on the total Article Processing Charge via the library’s subscription. You will need to inform the publisher that you are entitled to this discount in order for it to be applied. You can find additional information on PNAS and Publication Charges.

Royal Society of Medicine: RSM offers a 20 % discount on the publishing charge in their fully open access journals. When you as a corresponding author get your article accepted in any of the fully OA journals the APC will be discounted automatically.
