Workshop: Publish with impact - Journal indexing and impact factors

Research articles are commonly accessed through scientific databases that actively select which journals they cover, that is which journals they index. Publishing in a journal that is indexed by the main scientific databases is a good way to make sure that your article is visible and accessible. JIF, or journal impact factor, can also be helpful in assessing the influence of a certain journal. In this hands-on workshop we will guide you through how to check the indexing and impact factor of a journal. We will also discuss the connection between JIF, citations and scientific merit. This workshop is one of three independent workshops on the theme “Publish with impact”, focusing on how to make strategic and informed decisions about publishing. “Publish with impact” workshops are suited for those in the process to find a journal for their article manuscript.
