A graphical abstract is a concise visual summary of the main points of a scholarly paper. It can help draw attention to your work and make it more understandable and memorable. As more and more journals request graphical abstracts, being able to visually summarise the key components of a study is becoming increasingly important. But designing a high-quality visual can feel like a challenge. How do you create a graphical abstract that is both effective, attractive, and accessible?

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn basic principles of information visualisation and graphic design and how to apply them to create an effective graphical abstract.
  • Practise how to translate text into visual elements and sketch out different ways of putting these elements together into a whole.
  • Receive tips on how to develop your sketches.

You don't need any prior knowledge or skills in graphic design or software. Just bring a manuscript that you would like to turn into a graphical abstract and be prepared to experiment.

Don't miss this opportunity to sharpen your visualisation skills!

Instructions: This workshop will take place via Zoom. A link will be sent to all registered participants. If you do not receive the confirmation mail, please check your junk email folder.
