Apply for the Hagströmer Fellowship 2026

Applications are now open for the Hagströmer Fellowship 2026, an international research fellowship for postdoctoral and senior scholars in the history of medicine and related sciences.

The fellowship offers a 2–6 month research stay at the Hagströmer Medico-Historical Library, part of the Karolinska Institutet University Library. The library holds Sweden’s largest collections in the history of medicine – more than 100,000 monographs, extensive manuscripts, and around 1,300 medical and scientific journals.

Fellows will receive:

  • A EUR 10,000 grant from the Catarina and Sven Hagströmer Foundation to cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses.

  • A workplace at the Hagströmer Library in Stockholm and full access to KI library resources.

  • The opportunity to present their research in a public lecture and write a short popular text based on their work.
