What happens if I don't return a book?

We automatically renew your books two days before the loan period expires, as long as there is no obstacle, for example that the book is requested or you have a debt of more than SEK 100.

1: Overdue charge

If you do not return the book on time, you will receive a overdue charge. If you have unpaid fees of at least SEK 100, you will be blocked from borrowing, renewing and requesting books. As soon as you pay the fee, we will remove the block. You are also blocked if you have an unpaid invoice.

2: Invoice

After a reminder has been sent out and the book is still not returned, we will send an invoice. How long this takes can vary. If you do not pay the invoice or return the book, it will eventually go on to debt collection. We send the invoice to the residential address we have registered. You are responsible for notifying the library of changed contact information.

The invoice contains:

• a fee of SEK 850 per book. If you return the book, you do not have to pay this fee. If the book is missing / destroyed, you can replace the book by buying a new one, instead of paying SEK 850.
• a overdue charge of SEK 150 per book (maximum overdue charge per book). You must always pay the overdue charge, regardless of whether you return the book or replace it.
