Meet a publisher! Senior editor at Springer Nature visits KI to talk about scientific publishing

As a first in a series of publisher talks organized by KIB we welcome you to meet Anke Sparmann, Senior Editor at Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, and hear her views on publishing research.

Are you about to publish your first academic journal article but still have many un-answered questions about the publishing process? Then this talk is for you!

Attend this lecture and you’ll obtain invaluable advice from Anke Sparmann, Senior Editor at Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, on how to get published (and attract readers) in a scientific journal. First, you will learn why publishing your research is so important and what makes an academic paper noteworthy. Second, you’ll obtain an overview of the different types of journals and articles and how best to select the right one for your research. You’ll be given tips on writing and structuring your article and you’ll learn more about what editors are looking for in your paper. Further, the editor will take you through the submission and peer review workflow and provide some key pointers on key topics such as research ethics, ORCID, and the case for publishing your research data.

Further, you will obtain an introductory overview of the main Open Access flavours (Green OA, Gold OA, Hybrid) as well as a brief outline of the pre-paid OA arrangement that Karolinska Institute has with a selection of Springer Nature journals – some 570 titles, including Nature Communications and Scientific Reports.

At the end of the session, you’ll get a chance to put any remaining questions directly to an experienced editor. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to equip yourself with the core skills to get published and noticed!
