Access your student e-mail by logging in with your student account.

Access your e-mail on a smartphone

Here are instructions for setting up your KI e-mail account on your Iphone or Android phone.

You use the following settings for reading email on a smartphone (tablet, or another client).  

  • Username: (for examplel
  • Password is the same as for your student account (Canvas for example).

Note! If you have difficulties setting up the e-mail on your smartphone, try using regular mail, the webb mail via Office 365 or down load the Outlook app instead. Get it for iOS or Android


  • tap > Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Exchange
  • enter your email address and password 
  • enter a description of your choice (usually "KI" or your email address)
  • enter the server name "" in the Server box
  • enter your user name. Note that the username is (for example and not your email address
  • enter your password (the same one you use for your student account, like Canvas) 
  • you don't need to type anything in the Domain box
  • activate the functionalities you want to use (note that email needs to be activated/green)
  • finish by tapping "Save"

This is how the settings look like on one of our accounts: 


Begin by tapping the Apps icon on the Home screen

  • tap > Settings > Cloud and accounts > Accounts > +Add account  
  • select > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
  • enter your email address and password
  • tap > Manual setup
  • enter your email address
  • enter  \ (for example \ in the Domain\username box
  • enter your password (the same one you use for your student account, like Canvas)
  • enter "" inte the Exchange server box
  • you don't need to type anything in the Domain box
  • make sure that ”Use secure connection (SSL)" is checked and that ”Use client certificate” is not checked
  • tap ”OK” if the message ”Remote security administration prompt” pops up

Set up your email account as POP or IMAP 

You may be in a situation where you are using an e-mail reader or device that requires you to connect your e-mail using "POP" or "IMAP" protocols. If that is the case, log in to your student e-mail account and make the necessary changes be accessing the settings:

  • Log in to > in the right corner, select Options.
  • Select e-mail / accounts / POP and IMAP 


  • Server name:
  • Port: 995
  • Encryption method: SSL


  • Server name:
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption method: SSL


  • Server name:
  • Port: 587
  • Encryption method: TLS

Note that the username here is your email address

Access your email in other mail clients

You can also read your student email in other clients like Gmail, Outlook or Thunderbird. 

In general use the following:

Exchange, IMAP eller POP3/4

  • Exchange AktivSync
  • IMAP lets you read/see all mail and folders in your account.
  • POP3/4 lets you read/see all mail in your inbox.

Forward email

From your email account you can also forward all your mail to another mail account.

Follow these steps:

  • Log in to > tap on the gear in the right corner and then View all Outlook settings at the bottom of the page.

  • Select E-mail / Forwarding /Enable forwarding

  • Enter the e-mail address to which the e-mail is to be forwarded, tap Keep a copy of forwarded messages and Save
