Guidance in information searching
- your support in searching for scientific literature and managing references.
Are you looking for scientific articles or writing references and need advice? If you are a student or doctoral student at KI, you can get help from our librarians.
- Do you need help with searching for information before you start your essay work?
- Has the number of references in your essay work grown so much that you need help with structuring and organising them?
- Perhaps you have forgotten how to make a “table of contents” in Word?
Drop-in support (online)
Students and doctoral students at KI can visit our drop-in support and get help based on your individual questions. You can get help with literature searching, reference management or simple Word queries.
Opening hours drop-in
The drop-in guidance in information searching and Endnote Online is open Monday–Friday at 11:30–14:00. You will meet a librarian by entering Zoom during the opening hours. The password is KIB. If there is a queue, the librarian will let you in as soon as it's your turn.
You can also get help with basic information searching and reference management questions through phone, e-mail and chat weekdays at 9:00–16:00.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we will only offer guidance online.
Book an appointment
As a student at Karolinska Institutet, you can book guidance in information searching. Due to the situation regarding the coronavirus, we are currently only offering guidance online. A librarian will help you find appropriate keywords, structure the search strategy and select databases for your topic. We can also support you in the use of Endnote Online, but not with technical problems. Please contact Endnote Online’s own support if you experience technical issues.
You must book your appointment at least two days in advance. Do you need more immediate help? The library also offers drop-in guidance online via Zoom during certain hours.
We recommend that you have a look at the web page Searching for information before the consultation.
We welcome bachelor's and master's students. If you are a doctoral student we recommend that you book an appointment here.
Guidance via Zoom
Guidance via Zoom means that you get guidance online. The link to the virtual meeting room will be sent to you by your instructor before the meeting. Just click on the link to get to the meeting room. For the guidance to work optimally, you should sit at a computer with access to a webcam and microphone. In other respects, the guidance will work almost the same as guidance on campus.
You can also attend the workshops for doctoral and master's students arranged by the library.
