On E-booksMost medical journals are now available in electronic format. The uses of these are well established at the Karolinska Institutet. However, more and more books and encyclopedias are also available electronically. The reasons for this could be many: an electronic text is easily searchable and may be updated more flexible than a printed version. Electronic media makes interactivity possible, with for example self-evaluation tests in course books and better illustrations with parts from video and sound files. An electronic book is also always available, though sometimes restricted by license agreements. Texts are published today both by publishers and in more informal ways by teachers publishing their own compendiums, etc. Some of these books are for free and others are available through a license or other charges. We have collected electronic books that we have evaluated as usable and relevant for researchers, students and employees of KI. Some texts may also be of interest for the public. |
