Articles online are only available within Karolinska Institutet's campus, or if you log in via proxy.

A database has been created by The Centre for Medical Innovations together with Karolinska Institutet University Library.

The database contains references to articles from some 5700 journals from 1992 and onwards, where any of the authors are affiliated with Karolinska Institutet. You will also find a list of 100 new articles published by KI researchers.

Photo copies of articles can be ordered by using the library's order form.

All articles in PubMed has a unique number called PMID. In the PubMed reference you can see what the PMID number for that article is.

You can use the PMID to quickly find an article in Pubmed. You can also use the PMID when you order articles from us.

National Academies Press is an organization created by the American National Academies (the National Academy of Science, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine samt National Research Council).

They publish about 200 books yearly within current topics, among them medicine.

  Reference work from Gale in multiple parts on topics in biomedicine which needs an ethic point of view, ie patient - physician relationship, fertility and human reproduction, use of laboratory animals, gender issues, death and dying, the new genetics, organ transplantation.

  130 ebooks in neuroscience from the publisher CRC Press

• Books@Ovid (KI)

  399 textbooks in medicine and nursing via Ovid. From the publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

• Oxford Reference Online Premium (KI)

  Oxford Reference Online includes material from over 200 of Oxford's reference works in different subjects.

• PsycBOOKS (KI)

  PsycBOOKS includes about 500 titles published by the American Psychological Association (APA) dating from the 19th century until present. The books are available in full text (PDF).

• PsychiatryOnline.com (KI)

  Here we got DSM-IV-TR® , The APA Practice Guidelines in both comprehensive and quick reference formats among other titles.

• Sage eReferenc (KI)

  In Sage eReference we have access to some fifty titles in various subjects.

• ScienceDirect Book series (KI)

  KI has access to 52 book series, among others. Advances in cancer research and Advances in genetics.

• ScienceDirect Reference works (KI)

  Encyclopedia of human nutrition and International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences.

• Springer protocol (KI)

  Methods in molecular biology and Methods in molecular medicine (formerly published by Humana press). Methods in laboratory science

• Thieme Ebook Library (KI)

  E-book collection from the publisher Thieme. The collection of some 30 titles includes their well known Color Atlas Series.

• Wiley Online Books (KI)

             KI has bought two books from the collection: The R Book and March's Advanced Organic Chemistry

• Wiley Reference Works (KI)

  KI has access to The Cancer Handbook, Encyclopedia of biostatistics and Encyclopedia of Life Sciences.

Students and staff at KI can log in to get remote access to databases and journals.

The proxy service has been replaced by a log in link in the top right corner at the main library website. If you are a registered student at Karolinska Institutet or an employee, you will access all library e-resources through this log in whether you are using a computer at Karolinska Institutet, or using your home computer. Therefore, you do not have to log in through proxy anymore.

At the University library the books are organized according to the NLM Classification for medicine. Other subjects are organized according to SAB.

How the books are organized (Swedish)

Use the library catalogue MIKS to find your course books. In the catalogue you will find what shelf the book is on, and if it is available. You can limit your search to KI prescr. book in the material type drop down meny under extended serach.

You can reserve books that are not available. If you leave your e-mail address to the library you will get an e-mail when the book is available for pick-up.

Course books can be borrowed for 7 days.

All course books are available as day loans. You will find them at the library desk.
 

Search in the library catalogue MIKS to find our books. In the catalogue you can see if the book is available, if it is placed in Solna or in Huddinge and what shelf it is on.

If you're looking for older material (-1966), you can search an online version of our card catalogue that covers a great part of our collection up to 1966. (It works best in Firefox with Java updated).

Search in Libris! It's a national library database that shows material avaiable at Swedish research libraries.

• Libris - Choose Extended search and limits yout search to Theses under Material type/s.

• Dissertations and thesis - Citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day.

In KIB-labb we can help you with the search process, references and critical evaluation of sources.

KIB-labb is open Monday-Friday between 11-16 pm on drop in basis.  Just go to group room 5 in Solna or "Skansen" in Huddinge (located on the upper floor of the library).
