E-publish Degree Project
E-publish Degree Project
If you plan to publish your Degree Project – or parts of it – as an article in a journal, you may choose not to make it available in the library archive right away. The delay, or embargo, prevents public access of your work for a period of time. You may choose yourself for how long you want the embargo to be effective, that is, you decide from what date your Degree Project will be visible in our archive.
When you have finalized the registration of your Degree Project, a notice will be sent to an administrator at your department for verification that the Degree Project has been approved. Once this is verified, your work will be made available on the web. You will receive an email when your Degree Project has been published..
You, the author, remain the copyright owner of your work, regardless if you choose to e-publish your Degree Project or not.
If you have trouble logging in or problems creating a PDF file, contact the library tel: 08-524 84 000 E-mail: ub@ki.se.
For questions about e-publishing, contact the library publishing support. tel: 08-524 84 000 E-mail: publications@ki.se.
No. Your Degree Project will partly be protected against any attempt at plagiarism because KI checks all Degree Projects against Urkund. As a result, your Degree Project will be included in the Urkund index.
In a few simple steps, you can convert your Word document into a PDF file:
- Open the Word document that you want to convert into a PDF file.
- Go to File and then Save As
- In the Save As Type, change the file extension from Word Document to PDF
- If you wish, change the name of the file
- Choose where you want to save your PDF file
- Click OK
When your Degree Project has been passed by the examiner you will be informed that you can e-publish your work. You then log onto the Open Archive of Karolinska Institutet, http://publications.ki.se/, using your student account, and upload your work there. It is important that you publish the exact version that was passed, and that the document is a PDF-file.
When you upload your Degree Project you need to accept an agreement which gives the library the right to add it to the archive where will be freely available online, but you (and any co-authors) remain the copyright owner(s) of the Degree Project and you may make it accessible or publish it in any way you wish in the future.
Accepting the agreement means that:
- You guarantee that the version you upload is identical to the version approved by your examiner.
- You ensure that you (and any co-authors) have produced the Degree Project yourselves.
- You allow that we publish your name online. The library adheres to the Personal Data Act, (PuL, SFS1998:204) You guarantee that any co-authors have given permission to e-publish.
